Lee Wardlaw claims that her first spoken word was ‘kitty’. Since then, she’s shared her life with 30 cats (not all at the same time!) and published 30 award-winning books for young readers which have sold more than a million copies world-wide.
Lee’s newest books include: Won Ton – A Cat Tale Told in Haiku (Holt, 2011), winner of the LeeBennett Hopkins Children’s Poetry Award and the Myra Cohn Livingston Children’s Poetry Award; Won Ton and Chopstick (Holt, 2015), an NCTE Notable Poetry Book and winner of the BookSource Scout Award for Poetry; and Red, White and Boom! (Holt, 2012), which received honors from the Children’s Book Council and the Parents’ Choice Awards.
A former teacher, Lee lives in Santa Barbara, CA, with her family and two dog-disdaining cats.
Lee will appear on the Picture Book Stage at Tots, Tweens, & Teens Book Festival on May 14, 2016.
