Michelle Markel is the author of nonfiction picture books for children, including The Fantastic Jungles of Henri Rousseau  (Eerdmans Books, June 2012),  Brave Girl: Clara and the Shirtwaist Makers’ Strike of 1909 (Balzer & Bray/ Harperteen, January 2013), and her most recent release Hillary Rodham Clinton: Some Girls Are Born to Lead  (Balzer & Bray/Harperteen, January 2016). She lives with her family in West Hills, California.

Tina Kügler is an author and illustrator. She spent ten years as a storyboard artist for animation studios such as Walt Disney, Nickelodeon, and Warner Bros. Her latest book is Snail & Worm: Three Stories about Two Friends (Houghton Mifflin Books for Young Readers, May 2016). She has also written and illustrated a biographical picture book about Wisconsin artist Mary Nohl, In Mary’s Garden (HMH, March 2015), with her husband Carson Kügler.

James Burks

James Burks is a picture book writer and illustrator who began his career as an artist in animation. His credits include feature films like The Emperor’s New Groove, Atlantis, The Iron Giant and the TV shows like Wow Wow Wubbzy, Ni-hao Kai-lan, The Dinosaur Train, and Fan Boy and Chum Chum.

His work includes his debut book, Gabby & Gator (Yen Press, September 2010); the lively graphic novel series Bird & Squirrel (Scholastic, 2012-2015); as well as picture books like Beep & Bah (Carolrhoda Books, January 2012) and his latest release, Pigs and a Blanket (Disney-Hyperion, April 2016). He has also illustrated for other authors like Tara LazarStephen Kresnsky, Greg Trine, Joan Holub, and Jessica Young.

Ashlyn Anstee is a picture book writer and illustrator. Her debut book Are We There, Yeti? (Simon & Schuster, July 2015) is a fun take on the age-old question that accompanies every road trip. Her new book, No, No, Gnome! (Simon & Schuster, February 2016), follows a very small gnome who has some very big ideas about the school garden. She also works as a story artist at Nickelodeon on the show Harvey Beaks.
